Southport, Sun And Pizza

July 5, 2018

The very best thing to do when the weather is so glorious is to head to the coast. We’re quite lucky where we live to have a few good stretches of coastline not too far from us – they may not be the prettiest beaches but they’re ours and we love them! We set off for Southport this Saturday but had to make it very clear to the boys that there is just no way they’ll be near the sea – for some reason it never comes close when you’re actually on the town stretch of beach but there are lots of other things to keep you occupied and we had a lovely day exploring.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to the seaside town and luckily you’re able to park in the Ocean Plaza complex easily and the first three hours are free! We wandered up and down the pier, sat by the Marine Lake and watched the yachts coming and going and of course visited Silcocks amusement arcade for proper seaside entertainment. As the weather was so good the boys were quite happy to wander around with us before we let them loose on the playground in Kings Park.

Pizza Hut had invited us along to their restaurant in Southport for lunch and we were ready for a sun break and a pit stop by midday. My eldest boy isn’t all that adventurous when it comes to eating out but he cannot get enough of Pizza Hut pizza. The Little Heroes menu is perfect for all of mine; they raid the salad bowl for cucumber and apples, munch through a cheesy pineapple pizza and get to finish off with the joy that is the ice cream factory and sprinkles. The staff in there were brilliant and brought colouring sheets and masks which kept them entertained through the whole meal. Nothing was too much trouble and it was a brilliant way to break up our day out.

Our very last stop had to  be the beach and happily we found pools of water further up for the boys to splash around in and hunt for critters. Honestly, we could have probably just done this for the whole day and they’d have been happy. It’s a great way to run off the massive amounts of ice cream they’d had in Pizza Hut too! They chased each other in and out of the pools and unearthed shells for our never ending beach finds collection. There is nothing they love more running around on a beach and we were happy to just sit back and watch them. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend a sunny Saturday and hopefully we’ll have chance to do it again soon. I hope this wonderful weather decides to stick around for the summer.

Thank you to Pizza Hut for kindly giving us vouchers to enjoy lunch on our day out. All words and thoughts are always my own.

What gorgeous photos Hayley! Isn’t this summery weather just fab? You can’t beat a beach day when it’s so sunny. We like Pizza Hut too, it’s fab for me as they also do gluten free. xx
