Walking With Little Legs

January 13, 2013

This morning the weather was looking particularly good in our neck of the woods so we headed out for a family walk. Lucas has been a good walker since an early age so the time has come to let him loose in the outside world, eek! We took a walk up to our usual park and let him out of the pushchair to have a stroll. He was very good and held my hand while we were on the main path; we stopped to listen to the ducks quacking and he chuckled away when some children zoomed past on scooters. A lot of doggies strolled past us and he held his hands out to most of them but sadly they didn’t want to play.

When we reached a quieter path I let go of his hand and set him free. At first he set off at quite a pace, emboldened by his new found sense of freedom. Eventually he started to slow, made sure we were there (I had trotted along behind him the whole way) and then he set to investigating the sides of the path and had a lot of fun squelching through the mud. We spotted a very friendly little squirrel and we promised to bring him some peanuts next time! I love to see him toddling off, looking like a proper little boy; this year will be full of independence and discovery for him.

It is lovely seeing him gaining some independence! I like looking at your photos of Jenson because he’s a few months ahead and thinking ‘Lucas will be doing that soon’ so much fun with a toddler but I’m sure I’ll have to step up the discipline soon! xx

I love his little hat and cheeky face. We have squirrels in our local park but they are so used to humans, they will actually jump on you and climb up your legs which is a bit scary 😀

Our squirrels are very tame too but I haven’t had one jump up my legs yet! Don’t think I’d be too keen on that either!
