April Books

This month was such a slow one reading wise and I think my book choice was to blame. Last month I had so enjoyed reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion so I quickly ordered The Rosie Effect and started it early April. I have to say that honestly, I was a little disappointed. I had high hopes for it but I just didn’t find it as charming as the first book, some of the characters really started to grate on me and I kept thinking ‘Why aren’t they just talking to each other?!’ It’s a shame because the first book really is fantastic but this one didn’t do it for me. I have seen a lot of mixed reviews so I would say it you liked the first book try this one too as you may love it!

Towards the end of the month I started The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness. I picked this up in the Amazon Daily Deals for my kindle and I chose it purely because another user of the #ayearinbooks2015 over on Instagram was reading a trilogy of his. I recognised the name and just went for it. I’ve only read the first couple of chapters but I love the writing, it is so beautiful and written in a style I love. I believe it is inspired by a Japanese traditional tale and I’m just enjoying being swept along in it. Since I posted this on IG I can see there is a lot of love for Patrick Ness; I had never heard of him before but I am planning to read more.

Now I have reached twelve books, which was my original target for the year, I think I will treat myself with a re-read. I read my favourite books over and over but in the last few years I’ve tried to stop myself as I would never read anything new. I might go for a Harry Potter or Wuthering Heights. Do you have any books you can read over and over again?

As always check out the hashtag over on Instagram #ayearinbooks2015 to see what everyone is reading and get inspired. I’d love to hear what books you are enjoying this year.
