Gift Ideas for Book Lovers

November 13, 2018

As much as I love the idea of giving books as a gift it can be a daunting task. You have to know the person you’re buying for well enough to know what genre they’d enjoy and on top of that you’d need to know if they’ve read the book before or if it is currently waiting in a pile of books somewhere to be read. Much better, for us bookworms, is to give a bookish gift; a gift that is all about the love of books without actually being a book.

I’ve pulled together a few of my favourite bookish things from some lovely online shops; nearly all of these I have bought the item, or have at least bought from the shop before so I’d happily recommend them knowing that each and every one is something a book lover would be very happy to receive under the tree on Christmas morning…or indeed any morning!

From Left to Right

Heathcliff Wuthering Heights Sweatshirt – Joanie

This popped up on my Instagram last week and it’s gone right to the top of my wishlist! I love Joanie clothes and I love Wuthering Heights, what more could a girl ask for? They have a few new literary themed clothes including other jumpers with book titles so check out their website if you like the look of this.

Foxy Book Sleeve – The Story Gift

I treated myself to one of these lovely book sleeves recently from The Story Gift and I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner. If you haven’t heard of a book sleeve it is designed to protect your books when you’re out and about. No more battered edges and folded pages when you leave your paperback in your handbag. I think they make the perfect Christmas gift – if you have a friend who never leaves home without a book then this is the one for them.

Swish & Flick Pencil – Nutmeg and Arlo

Nutmeg and Arlo have some beautiful pins and stickers on their website but I also spotted these cute pencils. They’d make a lovely little stocking filler for a Harry Potter lover – fab design and practical too.

Diagon Alley Papercut Print – Oh Cut It Out

I love, love, love these papercut prints from Oh Cut It Out, they are so detailed and look gorgeous in print form with a colourful background. Oh Cut It Out has a few Harry Potter designs apart from this Diagon Alley one, a lovely Jane Austen map and even some Hogsmede Christmas cards!

Bookshop Pin – Fable & Black

Fable & Black is one of my favourite online bookish shops. Everything I have bought from there is amazing quality with really cute designs. I could easily have included all of the enamel pins but I went with the bookshop one in the end, who wouldn’t love this?

Library Candle – Pret A Geek

What cosy night in is complete without a candle? Even better if it is a book themed candle. Pret A Geek do a fantastic range of candles and they’d also look pretty good in bookstagram photos.

A Stack Of Books Mug – Bookishly

I am woefully short of book mugs in my house and this one looks so pretty I couldn’t resist. If you’re a Harry Potter lover it’s worth checking out the Arthur Weasley mug on their website – it would make every muggle happy.

‘From The Library Of’ Book Stamp – Fernbank Studio

I think most people have felt the horror of lending out a much loved book to never have it returned. I’m sure I would take great satisfaction in stamping my books, ‘from the library of Hayley’, whether it made a difference or not it would make me happy.

Jane Eyre T-Shirt – Literary Emporium

I received this as a gift for my birthday this year and I would wear it everyday if I could. It’s a brilliant quality, so comfortable and the quote on it just perfect. There are many other designs on their website if (like me) you’d like a wardrobe full of clothes with literary quotes on.

These are just a few of my favourites, I could easily go on and on as a lot of these shops have an amazing range. If you’re trying to shop independent this year then buying from some of these online shops really does support small businesses and you’re getting a gift that someone has put their heart and soul into. I’d also like to mention that I haven’t been sent anything or asked to mention any of these stores, they are places that I shop online and I wanted to share the love.

If you know of any other great stores for book lovers I’d love to hear about them.

Lovely ideas Hayley, I want some nice bookmarks this year as I’m using postcards at the moment. I love the Avid Reader sweater from Joanie x
