Pumpkin Art For Toddler

October 30, 2012

I have always loved Halloween and every year we get pumpkins to carve. With having Lucas taking more of an interest this year we also did some different things with the pumpkins; I really wanted to try out some pumpkin art and there are lots of ideas over on Pinterest, have a look on my board if you are looking for some inspiration!

Lucas is only young so I  ending up doing most of the decorating myself but he definitely likes the results. It was really good fun for us and he was quite happy to watch and join in when he fancied.

I had the most fun with the drip paint pumpkins and Lucas was quite happy to sit and watch as the pools of paint dripped down the sides. Just squeeze whatever colours you fancy onto to top and let them fall down the sides of the pumpkins I love having these around the house at Autumn, they look so different.

This one was probably Lucas’ favourtie one, I bought some blackboard paint off eBay and spent an evening covering the a couple of pumpkins with it. They needed two coats but dried quickly. Then I just let Lucas loose with the chalks, this is one I will definitely do every year.

The more traditional option and one we did while the little one was tucked up in bed! There are so many great ideas now for designs so you can really go wild with your pumpkin carving. We went for a traditional one and Jack The Pumpkin King, they look great lit up when it is dark.

I bought so many pumpkins cheap from the supermarket that we had a few left over and turns out they are just fun to carry and roll around the house! This was a very serious business and kept him entertained for quite a while.

If in doubt, just play!
