One Morning {The Ordinary Moments}

Splitting my time and affections between three little ones isn’t easy but every now and again I have moments with each of them that remind me that I’m as important to them as they are to me.

Once a week Lucas goes with his Grandma to our playgroup (while I’m still trying to pluck up the courage to go with the twins) and I get to spend the morning with my twin boys. These mornings are lazy and quiet and they are able to have my full attention for a few hours. I try not to do anything in this time other than enjoy their company; the dishes can wait and I’ll find another time to tidy the toys away but this time is special, just for us three. I snapped this photo on my phone while Brandon was having a cuddle on my knee. He was happily sat there playing with my fingers and watching me talk to him. The tiniest of moments that seem all the more special because unfortunately they are rare.

Sometimes I can’t help but feel that I don’t give any of them the time that they deserve but even grabbing a few precious minutes to hold Brandon’s hand, sing to Arthur or dance with Lucas can make them smile and that is what I remember as I sit down at the end of the day. It’s something I hope I always remember when these days pass and my beautiful boys grow up, that I could make them smile just by being their Mummy.

    awwww that is such a gorgeous photo Hayley a little hand in yours. i do not know how you manage to spread yourself and your love around your three boys. it must be lovely that you do get a morning to yourself while Lucas is at playgroup to relax and be with the twins. and you are right, just being a mummy is all our children really want anyway x x

    This is gorgeous Hayley. Even with two of them I know exactly what you mean about snatching moments with each of them. Both mine nap at the same time now so it’s harder, but I do love it when I get to spend some one on one time with them. I started taking Mads out on dates last year while Mr E had LL, I think we need to start doing that again but alternate which one we have! x

    This is lovely and I definitely feel like this too, I think we put too much pressure on ourselves at times though. Just being there and loving them is enough – you can’t entertain them 24:7 and it probably wouldn’t be good if you did!

    Funny as yours is also similar to Katie’s post today xx

    That is a really precious photo, Its very hard for me to spend time with my little man as my little girl is always attached to me. My little man now goes school so I get some one on one time with her but I really need to spend some alone time with him too.
