The Funny Things You Both Do – 23 Months

Twins 23 Months

Dear Boo & Bear

I’ve just had a look back and I can’t believe I haven’t done an update since you were 18 months old and here we are, on the cusp of you turning two. What can I say about the last six months? I think you make me laugh and tear my hair out in equal measure! As I write this you are meant to be napping but I can hear you chatting away to each other and running up and down your cots. The best thing about this age is how close you are becoming and we can really see the special bond you share. I don’t know were you get your energy from but you never stop. Maybe it’s because you have each other to egg on, if one of you tries to have a minutes peace no doubt the other will be wreaking havoc.

I think in one of these updates I must have said that having twins gets easier as the time goes on. And while that is still totally true, now we are getting a full nights sleep and you can walk and talk it is undoubtedly easier, but sometimes it feels like one step forwards, two back. You are both on the go ALL DAY, you are such little explorers, into everything and even though I know it is just your age it seems like a trail of destruction follows you around the house. The wail you both let out if you don’t get your own way is something to behold and we get a lot more squabbles and whines alongside hysterical giggles and cuddles.

Boo, you are looking like the more bossy twin and as the months go on I can see you assert yourself more and more. I think most of that is just that Bear is so laid back, he doesn’t really mind what you do but I know when he is upset he really means business! You are different in so many little ways it is hard to explain and sometimes you switch around, so much so that I have to check twice to see which twin is which. Boo, you are usually the leader and Bear you will come along and encourage even more mischief when you see what he is getting up to.

Bear, you are often quite happy to play quietly on your own and you can easily get lost in your own little games. You have certain things that you really love; you still love cars and fire engines, police cars and diggers but you are also getting into Playmobil and anything with little figures you can chat to. You often want to play with Lucas so you always try to do the same things he is doing. Boo, you still love your cars and trains but recently you can spend so long running round with the binoculars, letting out a big chuckle when you spot someone through them. You have also gone sticker mad and we’ll often see you run past with the whole front of your top covered in whatever stickers you could find.

You are both very cuddly and loving, always willing to give kisses and wanting to sit on knees. Almost anyone who comes into the house has to read you a story and you will go a choose a book then get cosy next to them on the sofa, listening to the story. You have started to randomly hug and kiss each other which is the sweetest of things but usually ends up turning into a wrestle. You make me and Daddy laugh out loud so much; there is so much fun in you and as you both chatter away you become more and more expressive. Sometimes you talk absolute gibberish but I feel like I’ve understood you from the way you say it.

We are so looking forward to Christmas this year with you both, I know you are going to bring even more magic to the day. You have both learnt to say Snowman and Christmas and everytime we see a Christmas Tree you point to the top and shout out star! Some days I don’t feel like I have time to think and you both really keep me on my toes but I wouldn’t change a single thing. You fill our house with so much laughter and love, I always have a funny tale to tell Daddy about our days together. When I found out I was having twins I imagined the fun we would have, I looked forward to this age so much when you really would be proper little boys and it is just as amazing as I hoped it would be.

All My Love

Mummy

Ohh Hayley, I think I say this every time but they are GORGEOUS. I loved reading this as I’m always fascinated by twin relationships. They are so lucky to have each other. 🙂 Did they nap in the end?! xx
