A Story Come To Life – Impossible Experiences

February 24, 2017

As a self-confessed daydreamer I spend a fair amount of my time wondering what life would be like if I could make the impossible possible.

Into the Blue are asking you to come up with your very own impossible experience to take part in their new competition. It could be absolutely anything, any idea from your wildest dreams; you can come up with something completely original or use one of their own experience days for inspiration. Imagine what you could do if reality didn’t get in the way! Not only will the winner get a £200 voucher to spend on one of the existing experience days but they will also have their idea turned into a real product on the Impossible Experiences page. Looking through some of the entries there are a few I’d like to see on there! All you have to do to enter is tweet or Facebook your idea using the #impossibleexperiences hashtag before midnight 28th February 2017.

As for me, what would I love for my own impossible experience? Obviously it had to involve a book – so often I have stopped to wonder what it would be like for my own favourite novel to come to life. There were a lot of contenders, so many stories I’ve read over the years where I wish I could’ve been a character. I quite liked the idea of appearing in The Hobbit and then I was tempted to go down the classics route, as I think being Lizzie Bennett and meeting Mr Darcy would be a dream come true, but in the end it could only be one story. From when I first read Harry Potter there is nothing more I wanted than for it to be real!

I was probably around fourteen when I read the first book and my eyes were opened to the wizarding world. It was way before the films came out, before the studio tour and a long time before the theme park sprung up in Florida. I was sorely disappointed that at fourteen I would never receive my letter inviting me to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I wanted to see Diagon Alley and choose my own wand at Ollivanders. I dreamt of sneaking through the barrier at platform 9 and 3/4 before travelling on the Hogwarts Express. I wished I had been able to sit under the sorting hat and find out what my house would be (I like to think it’s Ravenclaw but my husband says I’d be Hufflepuff) then sit in the great hall and have a Hogwarts style feast. I’ve had a lot of time to think about this and every time I read the books I wish it could come true.

For me this would be the ultimate dream, my absolute favourite story come to life in the most magical way. For now though I fear, I am destined to be a Muggle.

What would you choose for your own Impossible Experience?
