Lucas will be two at the end of August and for his birthday we are starting to think about moving him into a big bed and decorating his room. We moved house last year and we haven’t done anything special to his bedroom apart from put a few pictures up and some Space stickers. Other than these it is just a beige box and we decided to wait until he was ready for a bed to decorate properly.
Since the start of the year I have been adding to a Pinterest board for his room which gives me so many ideas but they regularly change. I love Pinterest; I lose hours to it without even noticing but I’ve seen so many cute things to inspire me for Lucas’ room. I first thought we would do a character theme, this child loves Toy Story, but it can be limiting to try and find everything to fit the theme. I know I want bright and bold colours and for it to be comfortable and engaging for him but to still feel quite light.
I’m really keen on striped wallpaper at the moment with maybe some wall decals for the other walls. I love the stick on bunting I found on Etsy! We might stick with a space theme as we already have a few bits that fit this so I’ve looked around for some accessories. My favourites are the alien cushion, star bedding and rocket fairy lights. He will need some new furniture, we’ve managed with a chest of drawers until now but a wardrobe will be needed and I love the Ikea storage systems. Then I can think about the exciting things! I’ve seen some lovely prints on Etsy; I have so many favourites but I love the inspirational quote and this Peter Pan print. I really want to try and put a reading nook in a corner of the room and I think a canopy would be perfect for this. Then there are those little bits and pieces that need to be added, the Dream Big sign would complete the room nicely. It’s great to see it all together and then I can figure out where I want to go with it and I can easily spot other things which will fit into the room.
Have you had fun decorating your child’s bedroom? I would love to see what you did and where you got your inspiration from.

Yes, of course I had seen your Toy Story room – it was amazing! I think I might still have to sneak a bit of Toy Story in there because Lucas just loves it. I can’t wait to see your boys new space theme room xx
