A Little Bit Lately 7

Please read my first A Little Bit Lately post to find out what these are all about, although I’m sure you get the idea. These have been inspired by Sometimes Sweet’s Currently posts so check her out if you like it!

Reading
After making my book jar last month I have actually read two whole books! This is pretty good for me at the moment; my first was Sylvia Plath’s, The Bell Jar and the second was The Stars’ Tennis Balls by Stephen Fry. The Bell Jar is a book I have been meaning to read for years so I was pleased when it was the first book I picked out of all those unread, unloved books. I kind of knew what the book was about but it was sad to read it knowing what happened to Sylvia Plath. The Stars’ Tennis Balls is the first Stephen Fry novel I’ve read and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it, again though quite a sad story. I picked out another of his novels, Making History, but I’m struggling to get into that so I might have to come back to it.

Watching

I’ve been very boring lately and just watched my usual television shows, Great British Bake Off etc. then taking myself off for a read of my book and an early night. My husband is off work next week and we tend to watch films together then so hopefully will have more to report next time. Although, we have started to watch the original Superman film as he was outraged I had never seen it!

Listening To
My husband has recently added some ‘Hayley CD’s’ to the car; because I don’t drive as often it is always full of his favourites and while I love a lot of his music it’s nice to have something in there that I would choose. He dug out an old Ani DiFranco album for me, Not A Pretty Girl. I love it; it must be years since I’ve listened to it and I feel like I’ve re-discovered an appreciation for her. A friend bought me the CD in sixth form when I hadn’t really heard of her and I will be forever grateful; it is one of my all time favourite albums.

Loving
My new blog! I’m so excited to have made the move to a self-hosted website. I love the new design by XO Sarah. I really wanted something simple but bright and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Everything I do on my blog is self taught so I’m still having a play around with and I think it will take a while for me to update it to how I would like it but so far I’m really happy with it.

Thinking About
I’ve been thinking about how Lucas is becoming much more aware of his surroundings and how I have to set an example for him. He doesn’t miss I thing and I am starting to see how much we are a major influence in his life. I always try to make sure he knows right from wrong and I expect good behaviour from him but he needs to see that reflected in us as well, which I think he does but it has just become more obvious to me as he has grown up. I’m under no illusions, he can be a rascal, but at the same time he can be so delightful. I guess it is all part of the ‘Terrible Twos.’

I thought I would struggle to get into it but it was great, I’m glad I finally got round to reading it.

It was nice to have a little peek into your everyday life. Like I’ve already said to you – your blog looks great. There is so much to learn about blogging, it’s amazing how many hours of my life it’s consuming!

The book jar is such a good idea. I am going to do that next year. Make it my mission to read at least one book a month. That has to be do able.

I thought the same at the beginning of this year but I have read so little, the book jar helps though! I have Anna Karenina in there waiting to be finished 😉

What a great idea for a post! I like the idea of focusing of mummy time but am finding it hard with L currently.

I also love the book jar idea. I have so many books I haven’t read on my book shelves. I might have to make my own jar.

    Thanks for the blogging inspiration.

The book jar has actually worked for me, I love to read but finding time with a little one is difficult. Sometimes it’s nice to look back at the things you are doing that are just for you!
