A Little Bit Lately #25

READING

I finished the Name of the Wind recently and have started on the next one in the series, The Wise-Man’s Fear. They are super long, and fantasy so not everyone’s cup of tea but I’m really enjoying them. I have just finished reading Pride and Prejudice again, I love it more and more each time I read it. I watched the old BBC series again recently and fancied have another read of the novel, I’m always surprised how easy it is to get into. I have literally just picked up The Girl on The Train and read the first few pages, so far it isn’t at all what I thought it would be but it looks good. I hope it lives up the hype. I’ve got a whole load of books in my TBR pile over summer so I wrote a separate Summer Reading List post about them if you fancy a nosy.

WATCHING 

It should go without saying but I’m going to say it anyway – Game of Thrones! It has been amazing this season and I’m so excited and slightly nervous for the finale tonight. I’m also loving the new series of Orange Is The New Black on Netflix. I thought the last one wasn’t the best but I am loving this new one, they seem to have got the humour back into it which makes it weirdly easy to watch despite the subject.

LISTENING TO

After missing most of Glastonbury over the weekend I’m catching up on a few of the sets from that, listening to bits on the radio and iPlayer. It’s not so easy to just have on in the background when noisy little ones are in the house. I’ve just got PJ Harvey on at the moment and she’s seriously amazing, would love to see her play live. In fact would love to go to Glastonbury one day, not too keen on the mud though!

LOVING

I finally paid a little visit to Leaf in Liverpool and oh my, I was in tea heaven! It is a gorgeous cafe dedicated to tea. I’ve been wanting to visit for a while but I don’t think I appreciated just how amazing it is. I went in with my mum and brother before we met up with some family for lunch so we limited ourselves to tea and cake but it is the very best tea and cake I have had in a long time. Julia from Rainbeaubelle has been recommending it to me for so long and I was all set to try her favourite, the lavender grey, but then I saw vintage chai and got distracted! Seriously check it out if you are in Liverpool – the whole menu looked incredible and I plan to work my way through all the tea.

THINKING ABOUT

It’s feels a bit strange to be almost carrying on as normal on my blog without mentioning the EU referendum. Although my blog isn’t at all political it is actually something that is very important to me. I was brought up discussing politics over the dinner table and my parents were always very open about who they voted for and why. Politics doesn’t sit very well in my family blog but this is something a bit different as I believe it will affect my children for many years. I woke up on Friday and was hugely saddened by the result and I am still frustrated. In the worst of it I just felt so horribly worried for my children’s future whilst being so helpless and that has been the hardest thing for me to get past. That’s why I shared the photo at the top of this post, as I sat in Leaf at the weekend and chatted to my family about it all that little phrase seemed especially poignant, ‘where there’s tea there’s hope’. I desperately want to be hopeful but I’m not quite there yet.
