A Little Bit Lately Dec

Please read my first A Little Bit Lately post to find out what these are all about, although I’m sure you get the idea. These have been inspired by Sometimes Sweet’s Currently posts so check her out if you like it!

Reading
I’ve managed to read two books since my last A Little Bit Lately! That is incredible as I have been so bad at keeping up with it. I finished Game of Thrones and The Great Gatsby. Loved Game of Thrones but I love the TV series so knew I’d be onto a winner. The Great Gatsby I tried to read earlier in the year and gave up so I’m glad I finally finished it but that’s all it was really, I felt like I should read it so I did and it was ok. I know people absolutely love it and I thought I would too but it isn’t quite my thing. I’m sure I don’t have the energy anymore for stories when you have to read between the lines, that’s a bit sad! I’ll pick another book out of my book jar this weekend to start reading.

Watching

Christmas Films…that is all. Classic kids in the day and classic adults at night. So far we’ve managed The Polar Express, The Grinch, Miracle on 34th Street, Trading Places, Love Actually and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This weekend we’re hoping to make a start on Nativity and Christmas with the Kranks. I have to save my favourites, Elf, Home Alone and Arthur Christmas, until closer to Christmas Day. Do other people do this? Everyone must have a favourite for Christmas Eve.

Listening To

With the Christmas films come the Christmas tunes. All the usual suspects and my husband downloaded his alternative favourites which this year includes Christmas Carols as sung by Bad Religion, it’s pretty awesome!

Loving
I’ve really enjoyed doing little Christmas bits with Lucas this year. He’s that little bit older so he’s took such an interest in decorating the tree and all the little festive bits and bobs we have dotted around this house. He’s getting to the age were we can start a few little Christmas traditions and we’ve baked some Christmas cakes, made some tree ornaments and experimented with festive painting. Christmas Day may be a little late in our house this year due to the arrival of twins but it will still be so special.

Thinking About
Too much! I can’t switch my brain off at the moment; I like to be organised so with my crazy pregnancy hormones my head is constantly in a spin. I’ve blogged this week with an update on our twins delivery and another post about all the change in Lucas’ world, on top of that it’s a busy time of year. I’m trying to take a bit of a step back and relax, be positive and calm. I’m so grateful for new friends this year and how amazing both our families have been, we are really very, very lucky!

You have stepped up your reading game! I might put the Game of Thrones books on my iPad to read over Xmas. I have never seen the TV show but have heard the books are great.
You are also putting a dent in the Xmas movies – we have been trying to watch one a day. Love National Lampoon, its beyond funny

You’ve reminded me that I was going to re-read Gatsby as I loved it when I read it as a teenager – hope I still like it! My husband is loving the Game of Throne books too. While I adore the tv series I just can’t get into the books, no idea why! Really hoping to get a bit of reading in while I’m at my in laws for Christmas.
Thanks for linking up your post xx
