Beauty for Busy Mums

Beauty for busy mums

A few weeks ago I was featured on the lovely Heledd’s blog Running In Lavender as part of her Beauty Q&A series. It was really good fun to answer her questions and have a think about some of my favourite products but in reality I don’t often use them everyday, especially not in the mornings. I would say on the average weekday morning I have maybe ten minutes, at most, to get ready for the day. In an evening or on a weekend I will be able to take my time but in the morning it is a mad dash to get ready before the children notice I’ve been upstairs for too long. So here is my really basic, super quick beauty morning routine, beauty for busy Mums!

Morning Beauty Routine

Skincare

The easiest thing I have found to cleanse my face is L’oreal Micellar Water, it is really quick, cleans well and doesn’t sting my eyes. Next up I moisturise and at the moment I am loving Green People Vita Min Fix 24 hour cream*.  I like that you don’t need a lot and it absorbs quickly, it smells fresh and leaves my skin feeling soft; perfect for when I don’t have much time. I finish off with Dr.Organic Dead Sea Mineral Eye Rescue Rollerball. My friend Vicki from Let’s Talk Beauty gave this to me when I was a sleep deprived mum. Vicki is my beauty guru, I always check in with her before I buy something new. This rollerball is fantastic, just a quick sweep under my eyes and they feel refreshed and cool.

Make Up

Day to day I try and make do with as little make up as possible so I keep it simple when I don’t have much time. No7 BB Cream is one of my favourite products ever, it is basically a tinted moisturiser and it just evens out my skin tone enough to look natural. It also has SPF in which is a must for me. I usually have a few mascaras on the go but this No7 Lovely Lashes is the one I reach for most at the moment. It lengthens my lashes but looks very natural, it also contains Argan oil to help nourish your lashes. Lastly I just pop some lip blam on, again I have SO many lip balms; currently this EOS lip balm is the one that I take everywhere with me.

Haircare

My finishing touch is usually Tresemme Volumising Dry Shampoo. I don’t wash my hair everyday, in fact since it’s been cut short I try to leave it as long as possible. I know this is better for your hair but mine is so fine that it does need a helping hand. This dry shampoo is great for just giving it a boost in the morning, it smells so nice too.

Haircare Busy Mums

This is definitely no frills beauty but when I’ve only got ten minutes to spare this is my back to basics approach to make sure I look somewhat awake when I leave the house. I’d love to hear what beauty products you always reach for when you need to get ready quickly.

Great ideas for quick beauty here Hayley! I am really intrigued by Green People brand. I have heard good things about it so I might need to get my hands on some. xx

I’ve used quite a few of their products now and they never disappoint me. Such great value for money too, their fruit scrub is also a favourite! xx

I really need a beauty routine – I have been using same minimal products for about ten years now! x

I think you are about the same age as me aren’t you? 30? I only really upped my game a few years ago and it has made a massive difference xx

My beauty routine is really lazy! I use cheap cleansing wipes from Wilko plus a microfibre cloth and Neutrogena soap. I use great moisturiser and a lovely serum underneath it but should really step it up a little now I’m older!!

You should have a look on Caroline Hirons blog, she’s a big advocate of a good routine to make the best of all your products! She would be horrified at my basic one probably, haha! xx

I think the Tresseme is so much better than Bitiste. I know it is more expensive but I think it will last a while, I wouldn’t go back now. The rollerball is amazing but I’m sure you can only get them in Holland & Barrett, they are fab though xx

It’s fab seeing other people’s routines and what products they use! I love knowing. Great post 🙂 I have a little more time to do my make-up these days which is nice as it makes me feel a bit better during the day. I always cleanse and tone at night xx

I’d like to try that eye rollerball. I use minimal make-up on a day to day basis as well. Yay for SPF in your BB Cream!
