Five 5 July

I missed out on joining in with Rainbeaubelle’s Five Under £5 last month, even though I had plenty of things I had bought. I just forgot to photograph them and started using them instead…oops. This month I had a few things ready and picked one more up when I nipped the the shop this morning for bread. That is what I love about this linky, I can add the most random things in and all is ok, perfect for me.

Firstly is The Girl On The Train book. I’d been wanting to read this for a while but not enough to buy the hardback so when I spotted this paperback in my Sainsbury’s local for £3.49 I couldn’t leave it there. It is on my Summer Reading list and I’ve already read it – feeling smug that I’ve ticked one off! Like everyone said, I couldn’t put it down and I finished it in one day. I really enjoyed it even though it wasn’t what I’d imagined, it’s easy to read and you do get swept up in the story, a great book for summer.

I’ve started buying a few little things for the boys for the summer holidays, I want to get them all a little backpack and fill it with these treats on the last day of school. I did a mooch round the baragin shops for crafty bits and bobs and I’m keeping them hidden away for the last couple of weeks of school. This superhero notebook was about £1 from Home Bargains and I bought some minion pens to go with it. I thought it would be nice for Lucas to have over the holidays to draw and write in.

The sunglasses I picked up last time I was in H&M…when there was actual sunshine! I’m sure they were only £2.99 and I love them as they’re small and don’t take over my face! I went for the tortoiseshell effect but they had them in a few pastel colours too so I may go back for another pair. I only ever buy cheap sunglasses as I often lose them or little people destroy them.

The little plant I bought in Aldi a few weeks ago; they had a few different cacti and succulents in these cute terracotta pots. I bought two and they’re on my bedroom windowsill. I think they were £2.99 each and because they are easy to look after I’m hoping I’ll keep them alive.

Lastly is the Mikado biscuits I bought this morning as my Friday night treat, living life to the full I know! I’m trying to eat healthily and I find these are quite good for satisfying my sweet craving and they take longer to eat than a bar of chocolate. I’m sure they are 1/2 syn each on Slimming World which is pretty redundant when you eat the whole packet alongside a glass of wine but still it’s better than a family bar of dairy milk. Wise choices!

You got a bargain with the Girl on the Train. I got mine from WH Smith at Manchester airport and I think it was about 4 times the price you paid. I love the little plant and your sunglasses are fab x

What a great idea to fill a backpack for the summer holidays…I might have to pinch it 😉

Love your sunglasses too; I only ever get mine from Primark for the same reason. I can buy three pairs for £3 and it doesn’t matter whether the kids break them or I lose a pair!

Great little finds this month 🙂

I fancy reading the Girl on the Train too, the book I’m reading at the moment is too sad for me! I will have to get some of those Mikado sticks as my sweet tooth is out of control too! x
