Five Under £5 January

Five Under 5 Jan

This is my second month joining in with the wonderful Rainbeaubelle on her Five Under £5 project, yet again I had quite a lot of choice for January but I’ve been last minute with my photos so in the end I just grabbed whatever I was nearest to me! Actually, looking at them now I’m pleased as they really are some of my favourites things from the last month.

My Mum bought me the Twining Bollywood Chai Latte tea for Christmas and it is super good, anyone who knows me knows how much I love my tea and chai is one of my favourites. These posh looking packs from Twinings are about £3.50 for 15 bags, but they are those lovely, loose leaf pyramid bags. I will be treating myself to some more, they have quite a good range out now and I don’t really drink coffee so it’s only fair that I buy fancy tea instead.

The Simple Things magazine I have just recently subscribed to and it is changing my life! I absolutely love it, so much so that I can’t read it before bed because it makes my mind too busy and I can’t sleep. It is full of so many things that I find inspiring and makes me and my husband want to run off and live in a wooden shack in Denmark. My friend started passing on her old copies earlier in the year so when I saw a good subscription offer I snapped it up. Now each month this little parcel of loveliness lands on my mat and I couldn’t be happier. I think it works out about £3.50 an issue with subscription but they are £4.99 if you just want to pop out and buy one, and I recommend you do!

I picked up the little notecards in TK Maxx before Christmas with every intention of writing a few thank you notes for gifts however I haven’t quite got round to that yet and I think I may have left it too late now. They are still handy little cards to have in when you fancy sending a note to someone, this set was £2.50 for five cards.

The coloured fineline pens I bought in B&M, £1.99 for a set of 10 and they are fantastic. My friend Vicki gave me a lovely notebook for Christmas and I’ve started a very lax bullet journal in it using these pens. I basically write down lots of lists and plans, things I need to get out of my head and onto paper and I’m trying to start a more formal daily to do. I’m not taking it too seriously but it is helping me organise my thoughts a little more.

Finally the crazy carrot that you can see is actually a pencil case. We nipped into Liverpool for the twins’ birthday to go to the World Museum but I couldn’t help and have a quick whizz round Paperchase. Lucas wasn’t willing to wait outside and as I dashed round with him in tow he picked this up and then we couldn’t leave it behind, it was in the sale for £4. There is still some available online if you too would like a bizarre pencil case. I may have borrowed it for my pens but I do let him use them under supervision!

If you fancy joining in with the Five Under £5 linky then please do head over to Julia’s blog.

I love it all! I don’t drink coffee, so maybe I should go for fancy tea, too? Obviously I adore the pens, paper and pencil case – goes without saying, right. And that magazine looks intriguing, I will definitely look out for it, thanks x

Hayley thanks for joining in again, I am so glad you did! I have never seen this magazine but I am going to go and have a look for it tomorrow, you have totally sold it to me. Living in a shack in Denmark sounds pretty good right now! Haha. I love tea but not sure about chai, I think I prefer an Earl Grey 🙂 Love of course the pencil case, it’s so cute! xx

I’ve never heard of the simple things before but I now want to see what it’s about. I always have good intentions with thank you cards. They’re so polite but I always end up forgetting to actually send them!
