A Little Bit Lately #24

ALBL 24

Please read my first A Little Bit Lately post to find out what these are all about, although I’m sure you get the idea. These have been inspired by Sometimes Sweet’s Currently posts so check her out if you like it!

READING

This month I’ve finished A Year Of Living Danishly which I absolutely loved, so much so that I wrote a whole blog post about it. It made me fall in love with Denmark and most days now I am craving a cinnamon swirl! I also read Looking For Alaska by John Green – I enjoyed it but you always know that at some point to story is going to be a little tragic. I think if I’d have read this one before his other books this would have maybe been my favourite. I also read Alan Cumming’s autobiography, Not My Father’s Son, which is just a fantastic read. I’m a big fan of his and he’s written about some difficult times in his life in such an honest and heartfelt way, I’d highly recommend it. I finally bought The Girl on The Train as the paperback was in our little Sainsburys so I’m looking forward to starting that this month and I’m reading a book my brother lent me called The Name of the Wind which I’m enjoying so far.

WATCHING

After saying last month that I wasn’t starting anything new before Game of Thrones I ended up binge watching season 2 of The Affair! I signed up to Now TV for Game of Thrones and spotted it was on there still, I absolutely loved the first season and this one was just as good. I’m loving this series of Game of Thrones so far too, seems to have picked up the pace and so many amazing theories flying around, every week I get more excited to watch it. We are also watching the new Peaky Blinders, I loved the start to this season and I can’t wait to see where it all goes!

LISTENING TO

I’m getting into Spotify again, I don’t know why I stopped using it but I’m back on it now and attempting to listen to some new music rather than playing it safe with what I know. Any recommendations will be appreciated! When we are out in the garden I like to have some music on in the background. We have allotments behind our house and someone close to us has the radio on in the day, I’m not sure what station it is but I quite like it and find myself singing along when I’m hanging the washing out.

LOVING

I’m loving the little bunches of blossom that have sprung up on our new apple tree, seeing my little boys in shorts, eating lots of melon and strawberries on a warm day, iced tea, planting sunflower seeds, brightly coloured nail varnish, being able to leave my hair wavy, flip flops, eating alfresco, paddling pools in the garden, dandelion clocks, period dramas on Netflix, and Oreo Dairy Milk.

THINKING ABOUT

It’s really started to feel like summer this past week, even with the rain it was still quite warm out so I’m thinking about getting to grips with our garden. Every year we do a little bit more and this year we need to extend the patio out a bit, get a new table as our beautiful glass one smashed in the winds over winter….still so sad about that, paint the fences and we also need a new barbecue as ours is on it’s last legs. Our garden is only small but it’s such a little haven and sun trap, I love it out there!

I’m not sure what music you like but I usually have 6 music on in the background. Lately though I’ve been listening to a lot of Prince of course – and he is great for running to! Also Bill Ryder-Jones and Aimee Mann. xx
