Summer Raincoats with Lighthouse

August 7, 2018

We recently spent a few days away camping in North Wales and even with the weather being as lovely as it had been I knew there was no way I would be going away without a waterproof. This glorious summer is lovely but it wouldn’t be Britain without a few showers along the way and sure enough we were caught in a fair few downpours on our little holiday.

I always struggle a suitable raincoat for the summer, especially this year as it is so warm even when it’s raining. It needs to be lightweight but I like them to be lined and breathable so they’re comfortable and it’s a bonus to find a lovely summery colour. Lighthouse Clothing contacted me just before our trip to North Wales and asked if I’d like to try out something from their summer range. I’ve been buying the boy’s coats from Lighthouse for years; I love their designs, they are always such great quality and they wear amazingly well even with my outdoor loving boys!

After looking through their great range of women’s waterproof coats I went for the Paige Parka in Blue Sail and I could not be happier with it. A Parka isn’t my usual style of coat but I’m so glad I went for this one – it’s ticks all the boxes! As always with Lighthouse it’s the little details that truly make me happy; gorgeous cotton striped lining, a perfectly sized mobile phone pocket inside the coat as well as plenty of other pockets, a roomy lined hood, a drawstring to pull it in at the waist and zips on the sleeves to adjust as needed. And of course that beautiful blue colour finishes it off. I also love the fact it’s a 3/4 length meaning it’s even easier to stay dry through those summer showers.

It was so easy to pop on while we were out walking, a wonderful mix of style and practicality. We tripped out to the lovely Bodnant Gardens when we were away and we’d been there about half an hour when the heavens opened and I was very grateful I had my coat with me! The National Trust property is amazing, full of beautiful flower gardens, wild meadows and meandering forests but it’s practically all out in the open and let’s just say that I was easily able to test the waterproof aspect of my raincoat! I was comfortable even when playing pooh sticks and hunting for pine cones and I was easily able to chase little ones up and down the forest paths. I didn’t feel too hot or bulky but more importantly I was kept dry. Sadly the same couldn’t be said for the rest of my family who had left their coats in the car and eventually had to hide under the towering trees while I was the one happily dancing in the rain.

Thank you Lighthouse for sending me this coat and brightening up our rainy days. As always all words and thoughts are my own.

I always struggle to find a nice raincoat too. I’m forever on the lookout for one that is cute but also great quality. This Lighthouse one is lovely. A nice length & I like that it has a hood too, oh & ample pockets for all my snacks. You picked a pretty colour, the blue looks great on you
