Winter Beauty Favourites

December 10, 2015

It has been quite mild this winter, temperature wise but even so I do have to take more care with my skin when the colder weather arrives. Today I’m sharing some of my winter beauty favourites, to be honest I’ll use most of these year around but these are the products I’m loving at the moment, whether they are an extra treat for my skin or a fun new beauty buy.

Winter Beauty Five Faves

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Limited Edition – My friend Vicki from Let’s Talk Beauty passed this onto me and I’ve been saving it for the winter months when I knew my skin would need a little extra looking after. I had been trying out the No7 Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth cleanser which is a great, cheaper alternative but isn’t quite as nice as the Liz Earle version. You can’t go wrong with Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and I love this Rose & Lavender limited edition, it leaves your skin feeling so clean but soft and it only takes a matter of minutes to use.

Green People Tinted DD Moisturiser – Green People are one of my favourite skincare brands and they have just released a new tinted moisturiser specially designed for porcelain skin. That is a nice way of saying pale and as I am both pale and freckly I was delighted when they sent me a sample to try out. I don’t often wear foundation day to day as I only like a light coverage, just something to even out my skin tone. I had heard good things about this DD cream (by the way the DD is for daily defence as it has an SPF15 and as a bonus is also anti-ageing) but I didn’t think the original light shade would be right for me. Their new shade, creme ivory, is perfect! I have been using it for about a week on it’s own after cleansing and have been pleasantly surprised I haven’t felt the need to use any other moisturiser or serum with it as my skin is usually dry. Although it doesn’t go on as smooth as other tinted moisturisers I have tried once it is on it looks amazing, my skin feels super soft and hydrated. It gives a lovely natural finish yet does seem to have a subtle glow and makes my skin look brighter and healthier than it usually is this time of year. It is definitely going to be a staple in my winter skincare routine, it is priced at £34.99 for 30ml. EDIT: after trying the DD cream after putting on serum as recommended by a friend it does glide onto the skin much easier!

Green People Tinted Moisturiser

MUA Sweet Sheen Lip Balm – I just love these little lip tints from MUA, they are such a bargain at £2.00 each, you could honestly buy them all shades. I have dusky rose and rouge rumba at the moment and I keep them in my coat pockets so I can add some colour and protection just before I head out the door on the school run. The colour is pretty good I think for a little lip balm and it is very smooth going on.

Burts Bees Lip Balm, Pomegranate – I am addicted to Burts Bees Lip Balms, I think they are so good for protecting your lips in these colder months. I often swipe some over Lucas’ mouth too just as we had out into the cold. I hadn’t tried this pomegranate version before but it is now a favourite, it smells so good and is lovely and hydrating. At £3.69 they would make a lovely stocking filler this Christmas.

Precision Swissco Blending Sponge – I can’t find a link to somewhere you can buy this in the UK but I got mine in TKMaxx. I originally had a Nanshy blending sponge and they are my favourite thing to put foundation and concealer on with. Somehow I lost my Nanshy one and didn’t want to spend a fortune replacing it so picked this up on a whim when I spotted it for £4.99. I know there is a lot to be said about these little blenders, there are some cult products out there but I didn’t want to pay £16+ for a make up sponge and this does the job for me! I must admit I prefer the egg shaped ones but it feels soft and is easy to apply and blend make up with so I’m really happy with it for the price.

Winter Beauty

Disclosure – Green People were kind enough to send me their new DD tinted moisturiser to try out but I was under no obligation to write about it.

The Liz Earle cleanse and polish sounds so good, I love good products that don’t cost the earth. And you can’t go wrong with Burts Bees 🙂 I definitely need to get some.

I definitely am addicted to Burts Bees lip balms, I bought a few gift sets and have split them up for stocking fillers/teacher presents, can’t go wrong with that I’m sure!

These all look fantastic. I love the sound of that Green People Tinted DD Moisturiser. I have never used any of their products but they are always highly recommended. Sadly, i’m allergic to the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. Which is gutting because everyone raves about it. I keep on trying it but then my allergy flares up. A lovely post, honey. Hugs Lucy xxxx
