A Morning At The Playground

Playground

This week, as usual, we went to our local playground but we managed to get there super early, before 9 am, and it was deserted. I love this time to play when we have the whole area to ourselves and I remembered writing a post about it way on back in October; it was one of my favourite posts, Jumping In Puddles.

It was one of the first times that Lucas had been let loose in the playground and I wasn’t worried about him getting knocked over or running into other children. He was pretty confident on his feet and was in a puddle jumping suit and he could enjoy splashing about. We were there nearly an hour and had a lovely morning together and it makes me so grateful that I get to spend time with him, that I see this side to him, I see the best of him and know him the most.

This week made me think of that time; we were there for a long time and I treasure the time when it is just the two of us, out and about having fun with no jobs to do or people to interrupt us. He loves being there and just runs round and round playing peepo and climbing. He always seems to be happy there whatever the weather but it will be nicer for Mummy when it warms up! It is a nice time of year to be out and having Lucas has made me so much more aware of the seasons, I see so much that I ever thought about before. That because I look at the world through a toddlers eye, I want to spot things to show him so I look at the world around me with as much wonder as he does. I am really starting to learnt to appreciate all the subtle changes and we go out whatever the weather – something I would never had done before being a parent!

Sunny and a deserted playground, that is one happy little boy despite the cold! I miss these playground trips now mine are growing up and just run off to ours on their own, you are right to treasure the time.

I know, it is lovely when the sun in shining and he always has fun outdoors. I’m glad I have a good few years yet of being part of it all 🙂
