Park Fun & Trampolines {The Ordinary Moments}

Trampoline 4

It’s been a little while since I’ve done an ordinary moments post which is strange as we have so many of them but this one is an ordinary moment that we don’t do as much as I’d like. When it was just me and Lucas nearly every day we would visit the park; we’d go as early as we could so that no one was around and he’d have it all to himself. Afterwards we would go and feed ducks or look for squirrels and run down the big hill. Since having the twins and Lucas starting nursery we haven’t been able to do this very often so it is quite a special ordinary moment.

We set off early-ish in the rain but it soon went off and it had obviously put others off going as it was completely empty when we arrived. I let the twins out of the pushchair which is something I never do on my own but as we were all alone and enclosed I thought I’d risk it. They ran round everything so excited and I felt pangs of guilt because they didn’t really know what to do on anything, by their age Lucas was scaling the wooden pirate ships! They were so excited and it was a moment of perfection to see their little faces light up as they made it down the slide themselves.

It didn’t last long as Boo decided to bail out on the roundabout and bit his lip, as that happened I turned around to see Bear climbing higher than he should and panicking. A few other children were arriving and I couldn’t keep track of all three so I got them back into the pushchair and halted the tantrums with a biscuit before heading off round the lake. We stopped and fed some of the ducks and treked up the hill to find the trampoline; this part is always so much fun and I loved taking photos of Lucas bouncing on there. I even let the twins out for a little bounce but they weren’t too sure.

I always feel like I breath a sigh of relief when we get outdoors. With having all three at this age I’ve had to make my peace with staying in a little more. Lucas is at an age now where he will do as he’s told but the twins both run off, usually in different directions, sending me into a panic. Going to the park is something that used to be so ordinary I didn’t really think much of it but now I really appreciate the simplicity of it. I think I underestimate how much fun it is for the boys, even if the twins are in the pushchair there are different things to see and chatter to. We were there for nearly two hours in the end as we were enjoying it so much.

It was one of those mornings that I really don’t want to forget. This is what it is all about for me; getting out and having fun, taking in those smiles and giggles then hugging them tight when they get scared or hurt themselves. Being a Mother means I’m the one they turn to and grin at when they’ve done something new and I hear Lucas shouting ‘Mummy’ from all over the playground as he climbs up the frames all by himself. They make me so truly happy and sometimes that is lost when I’m busy and we’ve been stuck indoors. Sometimes I lose sight of the fact that the boys can have fun doing anything and all they really want is for me to be there alongside them. It felt good to just go and have fun and make memories.

I absolutely get the park thing; when Charlie finished school all the parents were going to the park and it felt like such a mountainous task for me with the girls but they were quite manageable for a while before they started the darting in the opposite direction trick. It is so lovely when they are all out together and it feels like a massive victory for me!! xx

Oh I’m so glad to hear you say that Beth! I get asked to go to different places with other parents all the time and they are like ‘oh just bring the twins along too’ like it is the easiest thing in the world. It did enjoy a moment of smugness that we had done it…just before Boo fell off the roundabout, haha! xx

My little boy loves the park, but honestly I don’t take him as much as I should. He loves the whole thing, from the play areas to the running around. It’s definitely just an ordinary moment, but one I hope to do more of with my son during the summer. The pictures are great, those trampolines look like so much fun. #ordinarymoments

The trampoline was amazing, think I had as much fun as the boys. They always have so much fun there I really need to try and do it more often too! xx

We have a teeny tiny park across the road from us and it has about 5 things in it but Z loves it so much. I think you’re completely spot on when you say they don’t really care how big it is or what they’re doing there as long as we’re having fun together x

I just love that they can create so much fun wherever they are, I think that is what makes this age really special xx

Love this Hayley – it can be so nuts sometimes your right. Wow though what you said about how they have do anything and just want us there with them really hit me. I must start being better at joining in and being “fun mummy” x

I thought just the same looking back at these photos, I was ‘fun mummy’ for a couple of hours and I know I really don’t do it as often as I should but we all do the best we can. Whenever I see your IG photos I think you look like fun mummy! Always so many big smiles xx

Going to the park is one of the best free activities there is and we find the hours slip by, though it sounds like you need eyes in the back of your head with your twins x

Haha, yes it isn’t quite at the relaxing stage yet but we are getting there. I do love to see them running around outdoors! xx

Gorgeous photos lovely and there’s nothing like a visit to the park to clear the cobwebs away- we do it often if we are all feeling a little cooped up. They all look like they are having lots of fun. And that trampoline looks so much fun- I wish we had one of those at our park- Mads would love it. x

If we get up there early to get on the trampoline it is always so much fun, Lucas will stay on it for hours if I let him! There is something about getting outdoors that seems to keep you grounded, even when they do outnumber me 🙂 xx

Lovely pictures – and you are 100% right: Parks provide the best moments (generally, when they are not running every which way!) #ordinarymoments

Oh Hayley I have so been where you are now, I really think you are turning a corner, the twins are just coming to an age where they can properly join in and so long as you pick somewhere safe it will be lovely to let them play out too. Looks like you did really well, 2 hours at the park and photos too! Thank you for sharing them with me on Country Kids.

Honestly Fiona when I write these posts I think of you, getting out with all of yours must have been difficult yet I look at you now and see how much fun you have! It is getting easier in leaps and bounds and I love getting out with them xx

I’m so jealous that your park has a trampoline! Taking 3 little ones out can be quite daunting but when mine were little I found the more we did it the more at ease everyone was 🙂

I think that is exactly it Katie…we haven’t done it that often so it is a little bit new to the twins. We are starting to just go for it more…what’s the worse that can happen 🙂

Whaaat is that an outdoor trampoline?? That’s so awesome! Sometimes I get caught up in planning all these great things for Lyla and then I have to take a step back and remember that really Lyla is happiest doing simple things like visiting a park and having me participate in the fun with her. Kids are such a breath of fresh air with how easily they are amused!

Haha, I know!! The outdoor trampoline is amazing. You are totally right Tina, they are a breath of fresh air and force us to step back and make the most of everything!
