To me, Christmas has always been about family. There is so much I forget about the big day itself but I always remember being surrounded by family, whether it was just my Mum, Dad and brother or my Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles. Since I’ve been with my husband we’ve had Christmas dinner with his family and mine and sometimes both. We’d always have our Christmas Dinner round the table as a family, we’d all muck in to set the table and everyone would have a job to do. We usually played a board game after dinner, ate too much chocolate and drank too much wine (when we were old enough!). Last year has to be one of my favourite years; we had Christmas dinner just me, James and Lucas in our own home. It was perfect; calm, relaxing and made us very, very happy.
The older I get the more the years seem to be flying by and Christmas comes round so quickly every year. This year is a funny one for us as I know I will be spending Christmas in hospital, all being well we’ll be a family of five and we’ll be able to celebrate our own Christmas when we can all be together at home. A few people have felt sorry for me being away from home over Christmas but it really is just one year and it’s just a day. I’m lucky because Lucas isn’t old enough yet to be too sure what Christmas is all about and he’ll be able to spend a few special days getting spoilt and loved by family while I’m in the hospital. We’ve asked Father Christmas to delay his stop at our house so I can see Lucas open his gifts!
I’ll be taking a little blogging break for Christmas and no doubt we’ll be busy with two new arrivals. I’m sure I’ll still be active on my social media accounts but I’d like to wish you all a lovely Christmas and wherever, however and whoever you celebrate with I hope you have a fantastic day! Merry Christmas.
