Brothers in August {Siblings}

Siblings August

The photos for this month’s Siblings post were taken just before we were taking the boys up to bed. We’d been in the kitchen and came in to find them all settled on the sofa with a book each reading away. As I took a few photos they started sharing the books and looking at each others stories. It seemed a shame to tear them away so we just sat and watched them; it’s moments like this that make me so glad they all have each other. It warms my heart to look at them together, the way they all want to do the same thing. They kept giving each other little looks as they all sat with their books as if they knew just how cute they were being.

This last month Lucas has been off school they seem to have grown even closer and I love that they are a definite threesome; I never feel like the twins are excluding him or that their bond overshadows his sibling relationship with them. Somehow they all get along nicely together without any kind of major competition. They have squabbles over toys or maybe a game they were playing which hasn’t gone to plan but they are quickly forgotten about and they go back to giggles. I love how just running round the garden can make them all laugh hysterically at each other. I just want to capture each little thing they do at this age as it is so sweet but fleeting.

The older they get the differences between all three become all the more pronounced and it is incredible to see how their characters mix. Bear is definitely the one that holds them all together; he’ll be the one that brings someone a toy when they are crying or gives up a book if his brother desperately wants it. He wants to be just like Lucas and will try everything he does with no fear. Boo will be the one wrestling with his big brother and sometimes their cuddles get too enthusiastic and I can hear them both giggling as they splat on one another. Lucas has all of a sudden taken his big brother responsibilities very seriously and I can hear him directing them when they are playing or holding them back if I’ve told them not to do something.

The best things about siblings is that they are friends for life, hopefully they are that person who will always be there for you. Lucas has started telling us that the twins are his ‘best friends’ and every now and then we will hear him whisper ‘I love you baby’.  When I see them all together I have to wonder how we ever got so lucky to have these three beautiful boys who love each other as much as we love them.

    Awww, that last sentence made me a bit teary… it’s such a beautiful gift to have a sibling isn’t it, but such an utter privilege to get to raise them. It’s lovely to hear how their different personalities mesh together and it all just somehow ‘works’; my two can be so incredibly different one minute and then so similar the next and it’s so fun to watch them negotiate the world together. x

    Aww they are SO, SO gorgeous. All three of them. It makes me feel a bit emotional that Lucas tells them he loves them!!! Ahhhh that is so precious. I’m still waiting to hear that from B&C.

    We are blessed indeed aren’t we? Such a lucky, fabulous thing. Queen Bees in a house of lovely boys 🙂 Lovely 🙂 xxxx #Siblings

    Beautiful pictures that really capture their relationship. And I love how you have described their relationship and the little nuances, and the bond for life. That’s exactly what I feel about my two – I’m an only child and only ever wanted a sibling, so I’m a little obsessed with seeing the relationship between my two blossom, as well as seeing all the gorgeous relationships in the #siblings project.

    Your boys really do bring a tear to my eye. You must be so proud of them and the little characters they’re becoming. And you know where they get their example from? That’s from you! xx
