Living Arrows 7

The boys who will eat ice cream whatever the weather; somehow we have started a little tradition of an ice cream whenever we go to the park, any park in fact. Lucas can read the word ice cream a mile off and it doesn’t take much to convince the twins to go along with him. Don’t be fooled by the sun in this photo, it was actually freezing and we stood around them shivering while they happily ate their treats, refusing to wear hats and gloves.

Still, it was a nice start to our half term. A morning out together, the start of a week of adventures and fun. Although I had a few plans to get out over the holidays it really is very cold so I’m not sure how much we will do. There is so much I try to cram into our weeks off now, there is so much I want to do with them when we have the car that I forget that they need time to rest.

They are at an age now when they will just play together when they are out and they need very little to entertain them. I’m aware this is probably a relatively short window, that before long there will be other things they want to do rather than just run around a park with sticks, collecting stones and pinecones. We are at just the right time when they still want to play together and they don’t need quite as much supervision. It’s a glorious age and at times like this I’m glad there is only a few years between Lucas and the twins. He talks to them more and more and they understand him better. At times I worried that one would always feel left out but rather than it being the twins and Lucas they are a proper trio.

I look at this photo and it makes me excited for this year, so much more we can do with these three little men, hurry up warmer weather!

I was so happy to see the sun shining on Monday and we had a similar day although tea in cake instead of ice cream (much warmer!). Lovely picture, my girls play together too and it is wonderful to watch x

I love your tradition of ice cream whatever the weather. Ice cream should always be enjoyed! They sound like the best of friends and long may it continue. x
