Plus Plus = Fun

Plus Plus

Last week we were all feeling a little bit fed up of being cooped up indoors. My husband had the week off work and it felt like we weren’t really able to make the most of it…until this little bundle showed up on our doorstep from The Toadstool. A little box of Plus Plus was unwrapped and I thought it was perfect timing for our rainy days. In fact it was much more than that, I absolutely love this toy! Forget how great it is for Lucas; good for colour recognition, perfect for fine motor skills, counting, sorting, building, I love playing with it too! I love that’s in an activity we can sit down, do together and talk while we do it. Lucas is three in August and I wasn’t too sure how well he would take to it. He has always liked building and construction toys, his brain seems to work particularly well with puzzles and physical problems. As soon as I got the brightly coloured pieces out the box and spread them out he was asking to sit on his chair and was pestering me to build planes.

Plus Plus box

We were trying out the Plus Plus Mini 220 Neon 3 in 1 kit which comes with instructions to be able to build three different 3D models, a plane, a car and a little circus tent. I started on the plane while Lucas built mini models around me. I was surprised by just how long he played with it and how much he enjoyed it, even when he left the table he kept coming back to do a little bit more (until I needed the remaining pieces to finish my masterpiece). The finished plane got a big ‘wowww’ from Lucas and then was played with quite vigorously until it fell apart and we played smaller planes from the broken off parts.

Build

I think this is such a great construction toy, the mini pieces are made from a non-toxic plastic so it is really tactile. It is so versatile; the instructions to build one of the models I found easy to follow but then we discovered we could create some 2D pictures and started to make robots. I am honestly so impressed with this toy; I think it’s ideal for that stage in between Megabloks and Lego and it’s so different from most other construction toys. There is a little more scope for imaginative play with Plus Plus and it’s quite a calming activity. One my favourite things about Plus Plus is the price; the kit we got is £8.90 from The Toadstool which makes it perfect for a little filler present and they also have smaller packs which would make fantastic stocking fillers or presents for friends. I am definitely going to add to our collection and maybe try out the pastel colours for Lucas’ birthday. I even carried on playing experimenting with the Plus Plus when the children were in bed, in the interests of a well rounded review of course!

Yay! So glad you like it! I think all bloggers agree it’s addictive for parents to and I had just the same experience as you: even though not 3 yet, they sit still, build, talk with anyone else around the table! Fabulous review! Thank you x

That kit looks fab, I really love Plus Plus, although Monkey must be the world leader in Plus Plus rubble useage – it is his key ingredient in any building site.
