The Funny Things You Do – 16 Months

16 Months

Dear Lucas

I wonder where the time has gone; 16 months of your life has passed by and we seem to be having more fun each and every month. There are days when things seem perfect and inevitably there are also days when things seem less so. As you are becoming older you are exerting more and more of your independence  I always knew you would have a stubborn streak the same as me and Daddy. Some days are tiring and you can be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to mealtimes. However, you make me smile and laugh each and every day. Sometimes it can be something small; the way you have to put your cup back on the coaster at the dinner table. Sometimes it is because have seen something that makes you laugh; you double up with giggles everytime you see the pigeons flying at the park.

This last month we have had some snow for you to explore and explore it you did, until you realised it was cold and wet and then it was time to come back inside. Mummy had fun on the sledge though! I try and get outside with you as much as possible because you really seem to enjoy it. I love it now you can run round the playground and you enjoy every single second of it. You make friends easily with the other children there, whatever their age, because you are always smiling.

You now recognise nursery rhymes; if we sing Twinkle Twinkle your hands come up to make twinkley stars. You are slowly learning to Wind the Bobbin Up but your favourite is definitely The Grand Old Duke of York. You have an excellent march which makes us all giggle and you especially like to follow Mummy and Daddy round the room for this one.

Mummy and Daddy have been very excited this month as you are starting to show signs of talking! You are able to let us know exactly what you want without words so you have been very laid back when it comes to speaking. You will chatter to yourself all day but we now get a proper ‘Dada’ and following closely behind seems to be ‘Cat’. Maybe next month we will have some more to add!

One of my favourite things about you growing older is how affectionate you are becoming, you will now come up for a cuddle and a kiss and shout out ‘awwwww’ as we do to you. I love seeing you smile after you have leaned forward for a kiss; it makes me happy to see that you love us as much as we love you. You have made us in to a very happy family of three and we will for ever be thankful for having you, our beautiful boy.

All my love
Mummy
