I thought this summer I’d try and record a little bit more of what we’ve been up to. We are able to do a little more each month and get out and about with they boys but we still have plenty of lazy days in the house and garden which are moments I enjoy just as much.
I’m adding to our home movies by trying to record snippets of our week; I love capturing the boys on film as you see so much personality and cheekiness. I have a few videos from our childhood which are funny and embarrassing in equal measure. My Dad would borrow a video camera from work, it was a massive thing you had to put tapes in to and must have been a pain to carry round everywhere. There is a film of me and brother when I was about 12 and he would have been 7 when we do a tour of our house; I was directing and there was a script to follow but most of it is just us giggling at each other. Even now it makes me laugh out loud to watch and I love the thought of doing the same for our boys.
This week we’ve had a trip to our local park and had a bounce on the trampoline, the twins did have a go too but as I was on my own there was no way I could film and contain them all. With the weather being so bad we spent the weekend and early week in the house but we did get a delivery of caterpillars. A friend of mine recommended Insect Lore and the lovely Julia from Rainbeaubelle has blogged about their caterpillars and butterfly release so I thought it would be a nice little project for the boys over summer.
On Sunday we went to visit my Auntie for my cousins’ 18th birthday and spent a lovely day surrounded by family. The boys were so good all day, some of that might have been down to the trains my Auntie had kept from when her two were little. They were quickly spread all over her living room while we sat and ate cake. We also had a delivery of some fantastic new garden furniture from Asda but the terrible weather meant we were watching the rain fall on it from inside the house. Mid-week there was a a snippet of sunshine – the twins were napping so me and Lucas had a snack and a chat to christen the new table and chairs. The boys all managed a little play in the garden that afternoon even though it was a little chilly.
Towards to end of the week we went strawberry picking at Kenyon Hall Farm which I was really excited about but turned out to be a bit of a difficult trip out. I naively thought we could manage without the buggy but it was a complete nightmare, Bear just wanted to be carried and Boo wanted to run off! Trying to carry a bag and pick strawberries while they were both having a strop made it all pretty stressful but lesson learned, don’t go out without the pushchair!
The week ended with a beautiful day out at Speke Hall which I’ll probably write about in more detail soon as we had so much fun. The boys were all on good form and the sun was shining. We were walking around the grounds and happened to spot some our friends which was a lovely coincidence and we had a quick catch up while Lucas was pestering for ice cream. As we were leaving Lucas said it had been a fun adventure so that was good enough for us. So, here is our home movie for the week, hope you enjoy it.

Awwww lovely video and you’ve captured so much in just one week. I love Kenton hall farm, I can just picture them seeing the open field wanting to run off :). I remember those huge cameras too, some came with a huge light too and you’d be left a bit blinded by the end of it!
August 1, 2015 at 7:29 amAhhhh strawberry picking! I want to take Lyla so bad. I absolutely cannot imagine doing that with 3 kids, though… you’re brave haha. I guess you have to be though huh? And it’s so sad to hear that it’s chilly and rainy there! Here it’s steady in the high 80s or low 90s and I’m so sad we only have a month or so left of Summer 🙁
