Our Christmas 2014 – My Captured Moment

Captured Moment

I love Christmas, I really do but it has always been the build up that has held more excitement than the big day itself. Of course having children means that some of the sparkle returns to Christmas Day and this was the first year that Lucas really had any idea what was going on. It was also our first Christmas as a family of five and Arthur & Brandon’s very first Christmas. I was really looking forward to this one, my mum was hosting Christmas dinner and all my family were going to make it too and it would be the first time in a long time we would all spend it together. Sometimes though little things transpire against you don’t get the perfect day that you imagined in your head!

Unfortunately the in the run up to Christmas everyone had been ill, Lucas started to go downhill again as we got closer to Christmas and my Nana hadn’t been so good either. If I’m being honest the day wasn’t magical or perfect; we were tired and a little cranky but you know what, that is ok. Not every moment is going to be that perfect family moment; I would never expect it to be. Lucas slept most of Christmas Day but he still managed to leave out his mince pie and whiskey for Father Christmas and he played away with his train set all morning. Arthur and Brandon were so excited and scooted around all the wrapping paper and boxes picking up all the toys and investigating. I got to see all my family gathered around a table for dinner, which doesn’t happen very often. Arthur and Brandon sat happily at the table (as long as they were being fed) and loved getting plenty of attention. My mum cooked the most delicious food and even though there were 14 of us she still had enough to send us home with leftovers for turkey butties. We came home and the children were all in bed early, we had a glass of wine and caught up on the Christmas television but we were so tired we had an early night ourselves! So even though it was a little exhausting I still have plenty of lovely memories and a few photographs to remind me of the day. Life isn’t always going to be picture perfect but that doesn’t mean we don’t make the most of it!

It is such a shame when people are poorly at Christmas – especially the kids. It still looks like you had a great time though. Lovely photos. #MyCapturedMoment

Sorry to hear your Christmas was dampened by illnesses. It is always a shame when it happens! Hopefully next year will be more magical- and of course he will be older and so it will be even more magical! x

It looks like you had a lovely Christmas despite the illness. It’s always a shame when someone is sick over Christmas, but I have to say in our family it’s almost guaranteed! As you say, it doesn’t have to be perfect to be special x #mycapturedmoment

A refreshingly honest post about the realities of Christmas with little ones. Your first photo sums it up perfectly. We also had some less than fairy-tale moments in our Christmas, but I think it’s about learning to appreciate the magic in moments you didn’t expect or plan for. xx

Oh no, I know so many people who were unwell over Christmas this year – horrible thing. Having said that, it does look like you had a lovely day regardless. This beautiful post is full of very special ‘captured moments’. I especially love the one of you with all your boys.

Thank you so much for linking up to #MyCapturedMoment and supporting me with your kind words xxx

Looks like you had a great day even with the illnesses. You have some lovely photos to look back on too.
We also had a poorly little one who slept most of the day but he’s still a little young to understand that it was a special day. We all still had a great time, with early night all round too 😀 #MyCapturedMoment
