Dear Arthur & Brandon
You have been with us now for over half a year, it seems like that time has gone so quickly yet when I think back to when we brought our tiny duo back from the hospital it seems a lifetime ago. So much has changed in that short space of time but I don’t feel I always get chance to truly reflect on all your little milestones and developments. Sometimes it comes as a surprise to me that you are suddenly doing something new! I can see you both taking everything in, learning more about the world around you.
As you are getting older I am getting glimpses of just how much chaos it is going to be when you are both fully mobile! You both roll to get yourself about and the knees are starting to come up, much to my horror. I’m sure it won’t be long before you are crawling and then the fun will really begin. Lucas will be the most excited I think when you can chase after him.
We read a story to you both at bedtime now, I can just about pick you both up and secure you on my knee. You wriggle and fight over the pages, reach out to turn the flaps and feel the pages. Your favourite is Dear Zoo, sometimes you will look to each other and smile as if saying how much fun you are having. As you have your last bottle you play with our hair (or beard in Daddy’s case) and try to grab our noses and ears; Lucas used to do exactly the same thing and it’s so sweet.
Brandon you are our little sensitive soul, definitely more of a Mummy’s boy. You would happily have me cuddle you to sleep each night while Arthur snoozes in the cot. When you smile your whole face lights up and you bounce your little legs as you chuckle away. Bathtime has just become the best time of the day for you as you have realised that you can splash everyone in the bathroom by wriggling those legs, of course you think it is the funniest thing ever! You are also the quickest to let us know if you are unhappy, if food is taken away before you are ready we hear the most dramatic wail and you pull out your saddest expression.
Arthur you are such a laid back little man, when you smile you tuck your chin in and give a little cheeky look up. You roll all over the floor and reach out for everything you can, mostly you ignore the toys and go for something you shouldn’t have. You like your sleep and will often snooze through Brandon’s chatter. When you have a toy you like you will shout about it and make all sorts of noises as you play. You don’t really seem to mind who you are sat with but you love a cuddle just as much as your brother and we always seem to be able to get a beautiful smile out of you.
You are both finding your voices and making all sorts of sounds as you experiment. I love hearing you chatter away, I can imagine when you are older, hearing you plotting all sorts of mischief and chatting to each other as you fall asleep. Weaning is going well and you both LOVE your food, there is nothing that you have turned down yet; it is quite incredible to me just how much you both can eat! A favourite at the moment is toast dipped in houmous, it never fails to keep you quiet.
When people ask me how I cope with twins I feel like I’m conning them a little bit, you are such lovely little boys and really hardly any trouble at all. Everyone remarks on how happy you are, you sleep well, feed well; I think maybe because you have each other you are content. I could never call it easy and of course you have days when you are grumpy or won’t sleep but it has been such an amazing time for us all as a family and I can only imagine all the fun you will bring in the future. You make every day different and have filled our lives with so much more love, it has been an incredible six months.
All My Love
Mummy
