A Little Bit Lately 26

Please read my first A Little Bit Lately post to find out what these are all about, although I’m sure you get the idea. These have been inspired by Sometimes Sweet’s Currently posts so check her out if you like it!

READING

My reading has slowed down a little, you’ll see why when you see how much I’m watching at the moment, but I did finish a few of books this month. Firstly, The Girl On The Train which had a lot of hype to live up to and it did. It was better than I thought it would be and I liked the touches of dark humour, I read it in a day so must have been good. I also read Of Mice and Men this month; I finished it in a few hours and loved it. I wrote a little more about it here. I’ve just finished A Man Called Ove which is such an incredible book. A few people said that they had it in their TBR pile and if you do I’d highly recommend bumping up to the top of your pile. It is such a touching story, it was sad enough to have me in tears but sweet enough to be uplifting. If you are looking for something a little different to read please try this book!

WATCHING

I can’t pass this section without saying that I have discovered Gilmore Girls…15 years late but I’m fully committed now! One of my friends has been telling me to watch it for as long as I remember and I’ve always resisted but with all the hype about the new episodes and it coming on Netflix I thought I’d give it a go and have been hooked ever since. We are also working our way through the last season of The Good Wife and we’ve just started Stranger Things, after seeing Morgana recommend it, it is brilliant but I think you might have to be a child of the 80’s to love it. My husband said it’s like all your favourite 80’s kids films as if they’ve been written by Stephen King which is a perfect description. I think you’d have to love all those nostalgic 80’s movies to love this and we do! We finished the newest series of Orange Is The New Black this month and thought it was so much better than the last one. Me and my mum also had a night out to watch The Absolutely Fabulous Movie, it is perfect if you want a giggle.

LISTENING TO

I’ve been listening to some Regina Spektor which I’m really enjoying. She does the theme tune for OITNB and my brother recommended I try out some more of her stuff, it’s quirky and I like it. I’ve also really got into The Lumineers this week, it’s good music to have on in the background while I’m in with the boys and they like to have a little dance to it too.

LOVING

I’m excited to announce that I have just discovered that I like gin. I’m not very fussy when it comes to a drink but I’ve never been able to get on board with gin, as much as I tried! I’ve suspected for some time that I just had to find the right one, or ones, and I think I have found it in Bloom Gin. My Auntie got me a pre-mixed bottle of it for my birthday and it is just delightful – I’m going to have to hunt more out as I’m thoroughly converted and each evening I’m wishing I had a glass in my hand.

THINKING ABOUT

Summer, summer, summer! I’m so excited by how much more we are going to be able to do this year, we have lots of plans and I’m determined that we won’t take the buggy out for any of it, I’ll see enough of it when the school run rolls round again. It makes me happy to see the twins walking and running free, they are proper little chatterboxes at the moment and when they are out and about they are tripping over their words they have so much to tell me. We’ve also got Lucas his very first big boy bike, it is actually his birthday present but we gave it him early so he could use it over summer. He looked so grown up on it and smiled the whole time he was on it. This summer is going to be fun!

We have just discovered Stranger Things too – only had chance to watch one episode so far but can’t wait to watch some more. Loving OINB too! Maybe I should try Gilmore Girls too – I don’t know anything about it.
Must look out for that Blooms gin too.
