As much as I love the idea of giving books as a gift it can be a daunting task. You have to know the person you’re buying for well enough to know what genre they’d enjoy and on top of that you’d need to know if they’ve read the book before or if it is currently waiting in a pile of books somewhere to be read. Much better, for us bookworms, is to give a bookish gift; a gift that is all about the love of books without actually being a book.

I realise it’s been a while since I’ve blogged now so yet again I’m trying to ease myself back into it with one of these round ups. I’m having a little motivational flurry at the moment so thought I’d best make the most of it. Please read my first A Little Bit Lately post to find out what these are all about.

October has been a crazy reading month; I got through so many books I don’t know what came over me! I think part of it is that we’ve got back on track with taking the boys to the library regularly which means that I am constantly picking up books that I fancy reading and that I need to try to return fairly quickly. Also reading is, quite clearly, an Autumn sport; it’s the time of year for curling up with a book so I think that has helped me along.

You may, or may not, have noticed that I missed out my August reads last month. If you’re really that curious they are on my Instagram but, as often happens, life got in the way and I didn’t get to blog about them which is a shame as I read some really good books last month. Still, I’m back on track with my September reads and I have some great books lined up for the next couple of months so I’ll look forward to sharing them with you in the future.

The nights are getting darker, candles are lit, heating is on (a little bit) and it is definitely the season for reading. My To Be Read pile certainly seems to know this as it has nearly doubled over the last month. I thought I’d share a few of the books I’m most excited to read, there is many, many more but I hope to get through these eight over the next couple of months.

Although I often write about the books I’m looking forward to reading at the start of the year I actually think Autumn is the best time to check out new book releases. When it comes round to September there always seems to be a whole new load of books I want to read and this year I’m lucky enough to be a part of the Gangster School 2 Blog Tour celebrating the release of The Brotherhood of Brimstone.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen that I’m not much of a summer reader, for some reason all focus goes out the window and I struggle to keep going with my books. I’ve only read two books this last month and I finished both of these in the first week of July. Since then I’ve picked up about four books and haven’t finished them; absolutely no reflection on the books, it’s purely down to my poor attention levels.
