Dear Boo & Bear
Somewhere over the last few months you have left the baby stage well and truly behind you. There is so much more you are both doing everyday and even over the last few weeks I can see you maturing. We had a few weeks after Christmas when you were both intent on total destruction. Suddenly there was so much you could reach, so many things you wanted to explore but each and everyday was chaos. I couldn’t believe how exhausting it was chasing you both round all day. It was probably to hardest stage so far, I would take the newborn sleep deprivation over it any day! Thankfully we seem to be out of that stage for now and you are spending more time playing with toys than destroying the house.
Boo you are walking everywhere, on the verge of running actually. When you decide to move you really go for it and you love to chase after people, giggling as you go. Sometimes your body moves faster than your legs and you get in a bit of a tangle! You are saying a few words, mostly things that you need to, ‘juice, car and Dada’ are all favourites. You have little ‘treasures’ just random items that you take a shine to and have to carry round everywhere with you. This changes regularly but in the last week or so it has been a yellow car (only the yellow one!), marbles, a plastic straw bale from the toy farm and the lid from a milk bottle…all incredibly precious to you and most definitely not to be removed from your hands! I can hear you singing in the pushchair now when we are out and about and you are trying to tell me about everything you see.
My dear Bear, you can walk but you choose not to, why would you walk when crawling is so much quicker and has less risk?! Sometimes you will surprise us and just go, you can walk very far when you want to especially with encouragement. Although when we are cheering you on you seem to think it is funnier to fall to the floor. You are chatting away too and also say juice and car, Dada is just your word for pretty much anyone in the family. You remind me of Lucas so much; you just love cars and trains, especially if there is a tunnel for them to go through. You can entertain yourself with your cars and will spend so long getting them lined up along the bookshelf. You are so desperate to join in with Lucas’ games, it won’t be long until he realises how fun it will be to play cars together.
It amazes me how much you understand at this age without being able to say it. You hear everything we say and follow instructions, it is so fascinating to watch how much you take in and understand. When I say it’s bathtime you will both head to the stairs and start rattling the stair gate, when we open the gate now you both race up the stairs with Lucas. It is so cute to see you all giggling together.
You both love to make animal noises; in particular a monkey ‘ooh, ooh, ah, ah’ and whenever I call you cheeky monkeys I get this in chorus back at me. You point out all the animals in your books and wait for me to make the name and noise so you can copy or just grin at me.
As you get older I can see more differences in your personalities, Bear you are more independent in many ways and incredibly laid back but you do get spooked by loud noises and when you want a cuddle you absolutely must have it, you cling on like a little Koala and we can’t put you down. Boo you have days where you are very clingy and you just follow me round and have a good whinge if you don’t get your own way. You are both very quiet, much quieter than Lucas and I think you might be shy little souls until you get to know people. I see so much difference in you now that I struggle to remember that there was once a time when we couldn’t tell you apart. I think your personalities shine through but I’m sure there will come a time when you will be trying to trick me!
You are both such happy little boys, you always have been and I think that is just part of your nature. Of course we have days when all you seem to do is moan, you are at that age now that if you don’t get your own way we certainly know about it. There was a massive double meltdown last week because I dared to take my lip balm away from you (after you have dug your fingers into it). Wherever I take you people say ‘aren’t they good?’ and I have to agree, you really are. Always quick with a smile and a grin, your gorgeous brown eyes and long curly hair charms people wherever we go. My heart could burst when I look at you sometimes, I never knew how special it would be to have twins. It is totally fascinating to see you grow up together and there is so much fun ahead for us all. I couldn’t be happier spending my days with you, you always make me smile.
All My Love
Mummy

Oh, they are just gorgeous Hayley! And they do always looks so happy. I’m not keen on my boy having meltdowns, so handling 2 at the same time sounds bad! x
