A Toddler Garden – Phase 2

June 23, 2013

Earlier this month we started work on a small toddler garden for Lucas and we have now filled it in with some plants. There is a little lavender bush and we have moved in the sunflowers we sowed in little plant pots earlier in the year. My mother-in-law took me to a lovely little local greengrocers as I am pretty clueless when it comes to gardening and we picked up some bedding plants; Antirrhinum and Mesembryanthemum which I am reliably informed are nice and colourful. Luckily we got a bit of sun so we could plant them out and we are now getting a lot of rain which I suppose is good for our greenery!

I would still like to put some ornaments in, a climber plant along the fence and we need a Lucas sized watering can but I’m happy with how it is turning out. Lucas likes to help us plant and water and it will be even nicer when everything flowers and hopefully we’ll get some wildlife visiting. It is something different that we have been able to work on as a family, it gets us outdoors but the very best bit about the toddler garden is Lucas get to wear his wellies and get outside in the mud; his favourite pastime.

I love the fact that it’s a family project, a great way to spend some quality family time together outdoors. You have some lovely pictures of Lucas enjoying his garden wearing his wellies, I’m looking forward to seeing how things develop, thanks for sharing with Country Kids.
