A Weekend in North Wales

Talacre Beach

It’s Sunday night and I’m snuggled on the sofa, catching up on TV and having a few naughty chocolate treats. I’ve spent the night looking through the photos from our weekend away, we were invited to go and stay at Talacre Beach Holiday Home Park so it has definitely been a wonderful few days for us. I don’t think the twins have even spent a night out of their own beds and I can count on one hand the times Lucas has. Truth is that over the last few years a holiday has been low on the list of priorities and then I have to feel brave enough to push myself out of my comfort zone with three under five. This weekend was something that we were very much looking forward to and looking through the photos I see lots of smiles that tell me it was something we all needed.

We had such a lovely time at the Caravan Park and I’m going to be doing a full post about our weekend there but I thought I’d share some photos first. Most of these are from the Talacre Beach which has always been one of my happy places. Before we had children me and my husband lived over in North Wales and this was our closest beach, we used to drive down there in the evenings and watch the sunset past the lighthouse. I remember we had friends staying once and we all piled in our tiny car, drove the 40 minutes it took to get there and spent dusk on the beach – it is one of my favourite memories. Ever since I saw Rachel’s post about it last year I have been itching to get back there and it was just as good as I remembered. The boys were running everywhere, eager to take shoes and socks off and have a paddle. There was no stopping Bear who ran straight for the sea but Boo took a while to be convinced that little feet in cold water was a good idea. The weather was simply beautiful and we have made some new and happy memories there.

The only fly in the ointment over the weekend I had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics I had been taking and spent most of the Saturday evening at the emergency doctors. I have never had a reaction to anything in my life so the allergy rash really took me by surprise. Typically it had to happen while we were away, I’m sure it was just as I started to relax! It’s a shame as I spent so much time at the hospital on such a lovely weekend but can’t be helped and the photos of our time there really do make me smile. Kids always look so wild and free on a beach.

It’s such a beautiful beach, isn’t it? I’m always amazed by how quiet it is. Often, we’re the only people around. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it busy and we’re there A LOT. Such a shame about your allergy. Hope you’re feeling better now x
