This summer has seen plenty of rainy days and I actually don’t mind days in, although I do wish we had seen a little more sunshine over the past few weeks. Generally the boys are quite good at playing and entertaining themselves. That is the beauty of having three children close in age, they do play together and they can make a game out of anything. We’ve done a whole host of things to keep them entertained; I’m quite happy to bake at any time of the day, we get to enjoy the results of that too so we’ve made lots of fairy cakes. There has also been den building, colouring in and we’ve been keeping a close eye on our caterpillars (one has hatched out of its chrysalis the week but I think I was more excited than the children!)
When nap time comes for the twins it is a chance for Lucas to spend some time with us. I try to make sure one of us is free to do something with him to make the most of our one on one time. As soon as they go down for their sleep he asks ‘what shall we do now?’ We have a box full of jigsaws and matching pairs cards and he absolutely loves his Orchard Toys games; I am usually chosen to play those with him over and over again. He will play blocks with Daddy and they both try to build the biggest towers before knocking them both down.
Sometimes we will cosy up together and watch a film or he’ll sit with Daddy and play on the iPad. They’ve been trying out the Steelseries wireless gaming controller which has meant Lucas has had an introduction to racing games and some good old fashioned arcade games like Ms Pac-Man. I had a look on their website to see which games it was compatible with and downloaded some onto our iPad. Most of them are a little too old for him at the moment, a few I can see being quite addictive for the grown ups too, but the biggest hit with both Lucas and Daddy has to be Lego Star-Wars. We love the Lego games and it’s fun to introduce Lucas to them, I can see this one being played on when the children are in bed!
The Steelseries controller is great for gaming on the iPad and because it is wireless, connected by bluetooth, they can play in anywhere in the house together. Fully charged it has 10 hours of game play and because you can switch it on and off the battery life is extended. It would be perfect for older children to have in the car on long car journeys as it is small, neat and comes with a cover. However, for us it serves as a fantastic rainy day activity and a chance for Lucas and Daddy to sit together and giggle over Star Wars lego men.
Then the twins wake up and we are back to playing cars and Postman Pat.
Disclosure – We were sent the Steelseries Wireless Gaming Controller to review. All words and opinions are my own.

Oh it’s lovely that they play together and I love your rainy day activities. I hope my two will play together 🙂
August 13, 2015 at 4:35 pmI bet Sam would love this! He would play games on the iPad all day if he was allowed, he is a huge fan of snail bob. We are big on crafts and usually my son would rather go off and make something if he has spare time but we love Orchard Toys games too x
August 13, 2015 at 9:00 pmMine are not very good on rainy days, Lottie in particular. They get far too bored and end up trashing the house! We are much better when we go out! BUT when we do stay in (due to rain) we can have some lovely times, and especially if I entertain them with games, jigsaws and baking. This looks fab and I bet they love playing it with Daddy x
August 14, 2015 at 3:27 pmYou’ve reminded me we need to get ours out to play with. Lily would love it if I could play some special games with her when the twins were asleep. No such luck yet!!
