As I’m sure you know, Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I decided to spend one of my trips to the Coliseum Shopping Park picking out some of my favourite Mother’s Day buys. Of course we all love a little treat to unwrap on the day and it’s just lovely to spend time with family but a little time to ourselves too wouldn’t go amiss. If not on the day then maybe at some point in the future and with that in mine I’ve paired some of my favourite gifts you could buy for Mums with an idea how they could also get to indulge in a little self care. So whether you buy for a Mum with young children, a grandma, an auntie or a friend remember that each one of them, no matter what their age deserves to spend a little time putting herself first!
If you’re looking for a little something I spotted these mason jar style mugs and the cute good vibes travel mugs from Next. Both are lovely and summery and while one is perfect for making sure that Mum gets a lovely warm drink I think the other may be better suited to holding a G&T. When it isn’t always possible to get out for a drink bring the cocktails to your own home and take a night off – it’s usually well deserved at the end of a busy week!
I absolutely love these new rain jackets from New Look. Spring coats are always tricky to get right as we wait for the warmer weather. These matte anoraks and come in several different colours, I also spotted red and blue in the store but the yellow is my favourite. They look stylish and are perfect for brightening up your spring wardrobe, and great for throwing on for a walk or a few hours out for a coffee with friends.
When I popped into Boots I was very excited to see a Liz Earle counter and they had the loveliest gift sets. I actually bought The Power of 3 set for my Mother In Law (hoping she doesn’t see this before Sunday!). There are three different sets to choose from and each one has a full size Cleanse & Polish in which is a massive cult beauty buy. If you haven’t tried it already then these are a great way to test out the range and they should, of course, be offered alongside a peaceful bath and pamper session.
New Look also has a little home section now and I think you could easily find a lovely Mother’s Day present from these shelves but I particularly like the LED dream light. I’d quite like this above my bed in our own bedroom and maybe you could pair it with an early night, a candle lit bedroom, a luxury hot chocolate and sole control of Netflix.
This one is much more of a splurge but it really is the ultimate treat – The Urban Decay Ultimate Basics palette. I’ve been coveting this myself for some time now, especially this palette as they are all matte, all neutral shades, perfect for everyday wear. The Debenhams at the Coliseum has a wonderful beauty hall with so many big brand counters, as well as Urban Decay I spotted Benefit, Lancome, Clarins – I think a Debenhams voucher and a chance to have an uninterrupted hour in this beauty hall would make a great Mother’s Day gift if you don’t want to take a chance on choosing yourself!
As for my own lovely Mum, how was I going to treat her for Mother’s Day? That was a bit of a tricky one as she is currently living in France however at the beginning of the month she had popped back here for a few days. Perfect timing and I’d decided to take her over to the Coliseum Shopping Park for a day with me…and of course the twins! I treated us all to a coffee and a cake in Costa Coffee as well a spot of light lunch in Debenhams cafe which is very family friendly.
It was a great chance to catch up with her and she got to spend time with the twins. We could have easily done it at home but this was so much nicer, there were none of the distractions you get in the house. While she was there I’d have probably found a couple of jobs to do, or she’d have offered to help with something. By going out not only did we both get our coffee and cake brought to us but we both felt like we’d been treated with each other’s company, I don’t think we stopped talking all day!

Lovely post Hayley. Mum’s can be tricky to buy for but I have to say Liz Earle is always a winner. They’re such nice luxurious & pampering products, a treat for any Mum (or a gift for yourself).
