Living Arrows 5

I am so glad to be able to say we are finally in February, I feel a little like January sucked the life out of me. I’m sure we have just passed the same illness round each other for the whole month. I hope February brings some signs of Spring, a little bit of sun and warmer air to energise us all.

This week’s Living Arrows is one of Lucas, a photo I got told off for taking and had to promise not to take any more photos without his permission! He certainly knows his own mind but I love taking photos on our walk to school. I like looking back over them and seeing the changes in the seasons, spotting whether there are any daffodils in the back ground or just bare trees. Looking for those patches of frost on the ground or big puddles. When I look at this one I struggle to remember the times that we walked to school in t-shirts, it’s hard to conjure up the thought of those days when we are putting sunglasses and hats on rather than layers and layers of winter woollies.

One of the best things about these photos is as the seasons change around us I see the changes in Lucas. He’s shot up all of a sudden; he was the smallest in his class by quite a way but he is starting to catch a few up now. He talks differently and is interested in different things. When I think of things he loved even a few months ago they seem way to young for him now. He has started picking out his clothes, he has very strong ideas about what he should be wearing. He rearranges things in his bedroom to get them how he likes them and has words with me if I move them. He needs a haircut but keeps telling me he loves his long hair, not that there is any chance I would cut it short but it would be good if he would see out from under it. There are days when he will battle against every little thing we say and days when all he wants to do is cuddle up and be loved.

Somethings don’t change, he still walks to school every day without complaining. He runs along in his own little world, playing games and chattering to imaginary friends. He wants to hold my hand when the weather is bad or when he spots a dog. He still refuses to say good morning to the lollipop lady despite her saying it every single day! At times like that I can just see my little boy, still a little unsure of certain things, happy in his own world but trying to make sense of things around him. I hope he lets me take his photo again soon!

Ha ha, so funny how serious and stubborn/prescriptive they are about things. Thankfully N’s not too worried about clothes and is fairly laid back but I also get the ‘don’t take photos’ thing #livingarrows

Lovely post, my girls are the same they know their own mind, I need to take more pictures of our school run walk as it is nice to see the changing seasons and watch them grow. I am looking forward to the warmer weather although it does make me sad that time is flying by so fast and their first year in school will be all over before we know it xx

Beautiful boy. Aww he and G and sound so similar. I’ve noticed a huge change in Lil G’s language and how he approaches situations. I hope you have a much brighter February x #livingarrows

It is so wonderful when their own mind emerges, to watch them push the boundaries of their freedom of choice.
I too miss the days of t-shirts, and am glad we are tiptoeing towards Spring!
